Douglas Fir/English Larch is our softwood of choice for our these kits due to its super high resin content, proving to be twice as durable as common pine. Due to the natural tightness of the grain and the high resin content of the timber, it is not necessary for them to be pressure treated - these natural characteristics are what gives these pergolas their long lasting qualities and stability. This is an ideal timber to apply paint applications to, along with wood stains that will enhance the natural grain of the wood.
