Best-Selling Timber Options for Every Budget

British Larch & Douglas Fir - Our Most Popular Choice

Both products are known for their exceptional natural durability and resistance to weather conditions compared to regular pine products.

Available in First Grade (clear, knot-free boards for modern looks) or Character Grade (natural variation for rustic charm), they’re identical in performance, just different in appearance.

The high resin content means that the wood is resistant to natural rot without the need for any treatment. If left untreated, these woods will weather beautifully to a stunning silver grey finish. If, however, you want to retain the original wood colour, they take oils and stains beautifully.

Character Grade Air Dried Oak - Premium Quality That Lasts Generations

For applications that require the very best, air-dried oak is the standard by which we measure everything else. The natural tannins give the wood the best possible rot resistance, the grain is exceptional, creating real character, and properly fitted, well-maintained oak will easily outlast the building it’s fitted into. Yes, it is the most expensive, but the people who specify it never regret the extra money.

Kiln Dried Range - Zero Movement, Zero Headaches

Need to plan internal work where gaps and warps just cannot occur? Our kiln-dried oak, ash, and Douglas Fir eliminate the movement problems that plague air-dried woods in heated spaces.

Thermowood - Modern Performance, Eco Friendly

For applications that require the best possible performance without the need for artificial preservatives, our heat-treated Radiata Pine and Redwood are the ideal solution. Beautiful, rich brown colours, suitable for internal or external applications, with serious guarantees thrown in, this is the environmentally friendly solution that works beautifully.

Standard or V-Jointed? We Stock Both

For smooth, modern finishes with subtle shadow lines, our standard profile is the ideal solution, suitable for modern extensions, interior design, etc.

Or select V Jointed Profile for clear definition between boards. This is perfect for traditional and rustic designs and anywhere you want texture. Bonus: Your V Jointed boards will be reversible for installation flexibility.

These profiles offer exactly the same performance. This decision is for appearance purposes only. Select the one that best meets your requirements.

Buying for External or Internal Use?

External Cladding - For best results, select British Larch, Douglas Fir, Character Oak, or Thermowood for known performance in UK weather. Installation should be done within 7-14 days of receipt and ideally during October and April. This prevents movement from exposure. Fresh sawn external boards should be installed as soon as possible.

Internal Cladding - For stable environments, select from our kiln dried oak, ash, and Douglas Fir. No gaps, no warping, just beautiful boards. For permanent installations, kiln dried timber is an intelligent choice.

Premium Features That Save You Money

End Matched Boards - Tongue and groove on both ends of boards, as well as sides, allow for perfect jointing without having to align boards with studs. This cuts installation time and saves you big bucks on wastage. For larger projects, this feature could save you hundreds in material costs alone.

Secret Fixing System - Screws go through tongue and then next board covers. This leaves completely clean finishes externally. No screws, no rust stains.

Custom Lengths Available - Boards come in random lengths from 1200mm-3600mm. Require specific lengths? We can accommodate these for an additional charge. This charge is normally well worth it as it eliminates wastage. Set lengths available up to and including 3500mm.

Sample Service - Not sure what type of wood or profile is best suited for your needs? Order two samples for £5 postage, redeemable against your cladding order.

FAQ’s - Quick Answers Before You Buy

Can I use this externally?

Yes – choose from British Larch, Douglas Fir, oak, or thermowood. All are ideal for external use in the UK weather.

What is best for my project – standard or V-jointed?

Aesthetically – standard for smooth contemporary looks or V-jointed for traditional defined boards.

Do they need to be treated?

No – naturally durable timbers perform superbly without treatment and look great with natural silver-grey weathered finishes. If you want to retain the original colours, then UV oils are also effective.

How much timber do I need?

We can calculate the exact amount needed with your dimensions and advise on the best way forward with regards to end-matching.

What is the quality like compared to [Competitor Name]?

Well, ring us and ask – we are confident that the quality and price ratio far outperforms anyone else.

Should I install them horizontally or vertically?

Both are perfectly fine – but with horizontals, the tongue end should face upwards to allow drainage.

How long will they last if installed externally?

British Larch, Douglas Fir, and oak can achieve 30+ years with no difficulty at all – and much longer with the interlocking system than with the overlapping system.

Why should I choose kiln dried timber for interior installations?

Movement – no gaps or warping in the timber – essential for interior installations where the heating is always on.
