A very useful Brritish Softwood sleeper that can be used for many landscaping purposes, our Larch/Douglas Fir Machine/Moulded sleepers are very durable and versitile offering many of the benefits of a typical hardwood sleeper at a lower cost.
These sleepers can be stacked, placed vertically in the ground or used as path edging.
It is not necessary for Douglas Fir or Larch to be pressure treated as they will not penetrate the timbers due to the natural tightness of the grain and the natural sap/resin content; this is what gives these timbers their long lasting qualities and stability.
This is an ideal timber to apply paint applications to, along with wood stains that will enhance the natural grain of the wood.
Our Machine/Moulded Sleepers are available in three different finishes/styles:
- Radiused: Front and Back faces are slightly rounded with flat/square edged Top and Bottom faces, giving a natural log appearance (especially when stacked) and are machined smooth to the touch.
- Planed All Round: Planed square edged sleepers without the rounded edges, similar to a traditional sleeper with a machined smooth to the touch finish.
- PAR & Chamfered: Similar to the Planed All Round offering with additional chamfered/eased edges to give a completely smooth finish with no sharp edges.
