Our beautiful solid oak beam mantels are cut from high quality partially seasoned Oak, making them perfect for fireplace surrounds.
With solid Oak being a natural product, each mantel we cut will be unique bearing the natural characteristics that Oak provides. Made using partially seasoned Oak, every mantel may contain surface cracks, splits, knots and wane, but not necessarily all at the same time. As each mantel is only partially seasoned, as it acclimatises to its surroundings these natural imperfections may increase over time adding to the overall character.
All of our mantels are available in Rough Sawn, Planed All Round (PAR), PAR and Chamfered, and Distressed (Adzed) options giving you the options to pick the perfect mantel for your use; simply select the desired finish in the dropdown.
Supplied untreated as standard, we also offer an oiling service where you can pick from three clear oils; Matte, Satin and Gloss.
Since Oak is a natural product and our mantels are only partially seasoned, it is not recommended that they are used as floating shelves due to the very high chance of movement. We highly suggest that these mantels be fixed into place either directly into the brickwork, using our oak corbels or a suitable alternative fixing system.
Please note that if you select a Planed All Round (PAR), PAR and Chamfered or Distressed (Adzed) mantel piece, the overall section size will shrink by approximately 6mm. For example, a 225mm x 125mm beam would be finished at around 219mm x 119mm. The size will vary even more when selecting the distressed option due to the nature of the finish.
