British Larch - Douglas Fir Featheredge Cladding

From £12.50

British Larch has striking colour variations from pinks, browns to creams depending on the section of the tree from which it is cut. There are many dark brown knots which sometimes loosen as the wood dries, this can result in resin patches that may ooze a little to begin with and sometimes during subsequent hot summers. If left untreated larch cladding will fade to a silvery grey over a period of time and as nature does it's work. Available in Character and First Grade in the following section sizes:

150mm x 24/6mm
175mm x 24/6mm
200mm x 24/6mm
150mm x 28/8mm
175mm x 28/8mm
200mm x 28/8mm

British Larch is very strong and a very hard-wearing wood. Due to it's super high resin content British Larch can prove to be twice as durable as common pine.

British Larch is highly suitable for cladding buildings in a traditional style and offers a cost effective alternative to our oak claddings.

BS EN 350-2 classified British Larch, meaning that this timber is moderatley durable and can therefore be used externally without treatment if no sapwood is present. Larch sapwood is however generally accepted to be almost as hardy as the heartwood.

Ready to fix and available in two options - First and Character Grade:

First Grade is sorted to include only the clearest (most knot free) boards with the straightest grain possible. A perfect choice for all modern and contemporary applications.

Character Grade will have a mixture of all top four grades, 1 through to 4 - some clear of knots and some straight grain, others with knots and some sloping grain. A perfect choice for all traditional/rustic applications, it gives a less uniformed look, without compromising its excellent durability properties.

We do not machine larch to a profiled finish, the many hard knots prevent it. British Larch is prone to splitting when worked. This featheredge cladding is fresh sawn for use outside!

Please remember to make allowances for a minimum 35mm overlap on each board when making your calculations (50mm is preferable).

The advertised price is per square metre and comes in random lengths between 1200mm and 3600mm unless specified otherwise for an additional charge.

Additional charges for specific lengths:

Set lengths up to 3500mm- £4.00 extra per square metre
Set lengths above 3500mm- £8.00 extra per square metre
